Decisions

I am struggling with the decision of which baby sling to buy! Everything I read is contradictory. The Maya Wrap seems like the hanging fabric would get in my way, but it might be nice for breast feeding. The Moby Wrap seems like it would just be too much going on. There are so many others, I won't even start. But I am looking for advice, so if anyone who can shed some light on my dilemma, I would appreciate it.

Baby Stuff

Well, Joe and I started buying all of our baby stuff. We ended up with a Winnie the Pooh bedding set and these BumGenius cloth diapers. We still have a lot left to do, but are definitely on our way. Everything is pretty much gender neutral as we are waiting for the big day to find out.

Last night, Joe and I had our weekly date night, and went to see Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. We expected it to be really bad, but it really wasn't quite as bad as I expected. Then we enjoyed some good old Outback Steakhouse. Can I just tell you how pleasant it is to be pretty much the only people out, since everyone one else was watching the Superbowl? Wow.

We enjoyed some lovely sun yesterday but today the snow has started again. We are expected to get up to 8 inches over the next few days where I live, but I think this should be the last big hurrah of the season. I am really ready for Spring! I miss my violets and daffodils...

I heart Joe

So I have been brainstorming how to show my husband how much I love him on Valentine's Day and I am really in a rut! He doesn't like to be pampered too much and doesn't like to spend money, and I cook and bake all of the time so that isn't anything special...ARGH!

2:30 am

So here it is 2:30am and I am wide awake. Not sure if it is the sensation of a baby moving around inside of me or two many thoughts about becoming a mother, but sleeping is becoming more difficult on most nights. Luckily I feel rested enough most of the time.

I am up now watching the Iron Chef Grand Finale reruns on FLN, blogging, crocheting an afghan for Joe and researching motherhood books. Joe has just gone to bed and I am just getting up.

We were "snowed in" for the past 4 days as the powers that be have decided to stop maintaining our supposedly state maintained road. Luckily (?) I was able to work from home the past few days, but I have been stir crazy!

I spent quite a bit of time researching how I want to decorate my currently all white kitchen, and am posting a few of the pics that are inspiration. I found them on ratemyspace.com.

Well, now to watch my favorite Iron Check, Morimoto, fight his last battle against Sakai.

Hoping all of the rest of you are sound asleep!

Back in the saddle again

Well, we have been without a computer since my last post, but we are back up and running. No time at the moment but stay tuned for updates to come!

Birthday fun

Joe's birthday was this week and when asked what type of treat he would like he responded firmly with custard pie. I didn't even realize there was such a thing! In my family, the only pies around were apple or pumpkin and much later in life were introduced banana or chocolate cream. So, I did a little digging and found this recipe to try. I wasn't sure about it, but Joe says it was a success, and the proof is that there is no photo because it is all gone.

The pregnancy is going fine except for being very very tired.

As I mentioned before, Joe had refinished a wood burning fireplace insert for our house. He went to install it and we found it won't fit. He put so much work into it, I know he must have been heart broken, but like the great man he is, he sucked it up and we went and bought one on Saturday. It will be here and installed in about 3 weeks. Luckily, it hadn't been too cold yet and we have been using out heating fuel.

That's all for now, folks!

What we've been doing

OK, OK, I know it has been a really long time since I posted anything, but there has been a lot going on and yet not so much at the same time. What has been going on is that we found out we're pregnant...YEAH! As a result of said pregnancy, I have been majorly exhausted and have not had much energy to do anything let alone be crafty.

Here is a picture of how I told Joe we were going to be having a baby. There was a little card which said your present will be arriving in 9 months. He took a few minutes, but after asking, what kind of gift takes 9 months?, it dawned on him and he couldn't stop grinning.
We also harvested our potatoes that had been growing since 4th of July. Here are just a few of them.
Joe removed the damper/flue whatever thingy from the fireplace as we are getting prepared to install the wood stove insert. YEAH for warmth!
And finally, I made an apron for a coworker today to give to his dad. His dad is an ex marine and he wanted stars and stripes and the Marine logo, so here it is. I did not have a pattern, but I am happy with it none the less. Now I an working on finishing the back to a unisex baby sweater. I will post more soon, much sooner than last time. Take care!
