"There are only two mantras, yum and yuck, mine is yum."
I have just discovered that one of my all time favorite authors, Tom Robbins, was born in a town very close to where I now spend my days, Blowing Rock. I was turned on to Tom by my friend, Holly, years ago and have been an avid fan ever since. If you have a soft spot for the bizarre yet optimistic adventures of very well rounded characters, this is your bag of cookies.

Celebrating Spring
After a very long and miserable Winter (which is really probably not over for us yet), we thoroughly enjoyed our first Spring family hike. Just about a quarter mile up the road from our house, we took these pics. Emily was content to just look around and listen to mom and papa dream about the future family camping trips we will be taking.

Crawling and stuff
Emily is crawling around now and we have got the house pretty well baby proof for her current stage of movement. We have all of her board books down at her level so she can get to them any time she wishes. Got to encourage the reading, ya know?
I finished my afghan crocheted from Lion brand homespun. I love that stuff. It is so soft and yet easy to work with and is machine washable...YEAH! Here are some pics of all of these wonderful events.

We have so many snowy days recently. On one, we lost power for pretty much the whole day. Joe put together a puzzle which unfortunately was missing a few pieces.
